The NT-1's trademark is its gattling gun inside its forearm so the title CG has to be made out of a pose showing it...

The flat hands look pretty good if you heat the soft plastic some and bend the fingers at their roots slowly so that it's in a natural sideway curl rather than the default.

This is one of the final kits that still retain the name "U.N.T. Spacy" which is the name for the Federation. I grew up with the name and will always like it better than the new EFSF, like Kramer said "Frankly, it sounds made up!"

I'm still getting the hang of making CG so bear with me :) Comments are welcomed too. This scene depicts the murder of Kaempfer.

This profile is one of my favorite. I didn't know this kit can be turned into something like this, as the box photos and my test assembly all suggested this kit isn't so great.

The NT holds the rifile very well, its left hand can completely grab it.

The back. I spent a lot of time weathering the kit and it really pays off. Of course, there is room for improvement.

This pose is too cool so I had to make another CG out of it.
It's Christina charging at Barney - what's Gundam without the tragedy! That's why I like 0080 a lot.

The 0080 "War in the Pocket" is one of the better stories in the Gundam series, the tragedy elements really gets me. The NT-1 wasn't really featured prominently in the OVA series, but I still thought it was very cool. Designed by Yutaka Izubuchi who also did Nu-Gundam, it has a very sleek yet utilitarian design. Unfortunately the MG redition gave up the sleekness and turned the Alex into a pretty blocky robot. The head also didn't have that flamboyance in the original design. To be fair, Izubuchi's designs are not that easy to translate into 3D models. However after I've finished weathering it the kit looks very good and is capable of making very cool poses. I guess in this case all the little things count.

Kit Review

Pretty good kit, it features the Chobram armor which I didn't care much about, and which I'm giving to the GM Custom.

Building

Pretty much straight out of the box, with little things like sharpening the V-fin etc. Since the NT is ground use, I gave some pretty heavy weathering to it, though in retrospect a 08MS suit is more appropriate for such drapy appearance. Well consider the NT has been left in the rain for a while :) I also used Max's technique of painting a white gradient from the eye center, except I use artist oil to achieve a smoother blend, and also gave a gloss coat after blending. It works pretty good, I've always been plaqued by the fact that the eyes don't work very well in pictures, but this time I've got a much higher ratio of pictures with visible eyes. Sure, LED will certainly make them lit, but I'd like to have a non-battery solution.
