Yoko is an original character by Akira. One of his earlier kits, I like the pose of the kit (i.e. playing with the straps :) but I wasn't too thrilled with the proportions, in particular, I think her butt looks too small. Her hair is very elaborate however, you don't see that in the build up pictures... it has a pretty big volume. I found an Elfin recast for pretty cheap so I bought her...

Kit Review

Seam lines: ?/5   Pinholes: ?/5   Casting: ?/5   Fit: ?/5   Part Break: ?/5   Help

Ugh! What a mistake, the kit is cast in yellow resin which is brittle and difficult to work with. Some areas have white patches, uncured resin? Their reaction to sanding is weird, and I had to dig them out and fill them. I'll never buy an Elfin recast again.

Building

I made the straps out of styrene sheets since they have some thickness. The surface preparation took a long time! Hate working with yellow resin. some sharp details broke off during sanding, yuck. I thought the butt looks wrong too, so I gave her a little crack above the g-string

The skintone was painted with a yellowish one, and it looked pretty bad. Tried to fix it with oil but couldn't get it to look quite right. The kit also took a nose dive and her right hand was snapped off in several pieces... I lack the energy to redo the joint, so as much as I hate weirdo arm-ornaments on my kits, she was given an arm band made out of brass sheet. Actually it looks quite good on her!

After a long hiatus I started on her again, giving her a thin layer of my my recent skintone mixture, and that kills the yellow in the skin, I'm quite pleased. I also gave her two metal ball bearings for earrings and a Wave H-eyes on the silly arm band. Like her better than I thought I would...
