Hasegawa 1/48 AH-64A Apache

Apache has been called ugly but I like it a lot. It has that pretty aggressive look and my gaming has brought me to appreciate its firepower. It’s my type of machine 🙂

This was a new kit when I bought it but is now pretty old. Still it sets the standard for this bird of prey and is so far still the best kit in any scale. There are aftermarket additionsto its cockpit and I’ve gotten the Aires resin + photo etch set for it, unfortunately I thought I’ve lost the photoetch and therefore didn’t use it. Well what do you know, I found it after I finishedthe kit :-/ So I dunno, perhaps I’ll do another one if I can find a shark-mouthed motif decal set. TwoBob used to sell one but they’re no longer available, unfortunately. I used the Eduard instrument panel PE set as well as its exterior PE set.

The cockpit details isn’t bad except the molded-on seat belts are a little tell-tale. The exterior set added a bit of details to the rotors and the chain gun.

I also used the Eduard cockpit masks asthe windows are pretty excrutiating to paint with that white outline :-/ The masks helped a bit but with my masking skills I needed a bit of touch up still. I like the rivets so I went a bit heavier with the drybrushing. Probably not the pro way of doing it but what do I care 🙂
