From the classic World Masterpiece Theatre anime “Heidi: Girl of the Alps”, directed by Miyazaki. It’s a childhood favorite of many, myself included of course. This figure is a gashapon (trading figure) from Kaiyido. She’s soooooo cute, I can’t help doing a project to repaint the figure.

The figure is actually very tiny, it only fits in the middle of my palm. The work is moderate, the figure is basically one piece with the fences and scrub as separate pieces. The figure is cast in a hard vinyl material, which makes it possible to sand off the hugh running seams. It also doesn’t have problem taking primers and paint, so … great!

I mostly airbrushed freehand on Joseph the dog – I don’t want hard edges between the different patches of fur. Heidi was mostly hand painted or else it’ll be a masking nightmare given she’s so small. Shading is mostly by artist oil. I then made a small grassy base from epoxy putty, stones and static grass.
