I kept thinking I had this kit taken care of but didn’t. Anyway this is the prior version of the “Egg Girls Summer Paint 2017″. Oh boy, what’d happen if they make a 2019 version? Nothing interesting to say about the building process as this is the identical kit as the 2017 version. Only decals are… Continue reading 1/24 Volkswagen Type 2 Delivery Van “Egg Girls Summer Paint 2016″

Unchou Kan-u 關羽 雲長 1/6 by Yuki shiro
Finally, a Yukishiro kit that I actually own 🙂 This is probably one of the last of his awesome works before he became a PVC producer. I have had this kit for a long time but didn’t know what to do with it since it’s so awesome, but with time grew more knowledge and I… Continue reading Unchou Kan-u 關羽 雲長 1/6 by Yuki shiro
1/7 Emma Frost – Bishoujo style
This is yet another Bishoujo rendering of an X-Men Emma Frost by Yamashita. I modified her to have the comic version long boots rather than the original pants. She is a deceptively simple kit to photograph, as her long hair cast substantial shadows onto her face, so some care was required to properly balance the… Continue reading 1/7 Emma Frost – Bishoujo style
1/24 Volkswagen Type 2 Delivery Van “Egg Girls Summer Paint 2017”
What a fantastic idea for reusing old molds! Hasegawa made up a series with 3 cute girlfriends and released kits of them using old molds. This one is the fifth of the VW vans, the first I missed out on, the 2015 summer version, 2016 winter and 2016 summer. The decal designs has improved, the 2015… Continue reading 1/24 Volkswagen Type 2 Delivery Van “Egg Girls Summer Paint 2017”
Wang Bailong – Blade Arcus from Shining – 1/7 figure model kit
Wang Bailong (王白龍) is a heroine in the game Blade Arcus from Shining, which appears to be a 2D fighting game set in the Shining universe from the illustrator Tony. His design are quite adorable and have spawned a number of nice figures, with me buying a few of them such as Sakuya. The original… Continue reading Wang Bailong – Blade Arcus from Shining – 1/7 figure model kit
Kit Review: Lynn Minmay 1:20 Minimum factory (Max Factory / Good Smile Company)
As I mentioned in my review of the fairy kit, I love this Minmay sculpt and I disliked all others that came before it. Part of the difficulty is perhaps the very expressive 2D design by Haruhiko Mikimoto isn’t quite translatable into a 3D design; the nose was always wrong amongst other issues such as odd shaped head… Continue reading Kit Review: Lynn Minmay 1:20 Minimum factory (Max Factory / Good Smile Company)
Using tattoo decals for models
Temporary tattoo makes for great tattoos and prints on figures and models. They have beautiful graphics and subject matters (e.g. dragons) that are hard to find. Last time I used the tattoo decal on a kit was 8 years ago with Mizuki. At that time I didn’t think of the critical step in making the… Continue reading Using tattoo decals for models
Christie monteiro from tekken
After a lot of disasters, I finally finished her today! I liked her quite a bit when I bought her, mostly because of her dynamic pose and cool costume. However the kit was not great to work with having many fit problems, and the head turning back pose makes the kit less interesting. So finishing… Continue reading Christie monteiro from tekken
Sakura hime done!
After all the paint peeling and agonizing color choices, sakura hime is finally done. I’m happy that she’s finally achieved completion after such a prolonged negligence… But I think after so many years my tools and experience has increased enough to do her justice. Now moving on!
WIP: Sakurahime from Plawres Sanshiro
Because of the nice images I got from my figure kits lately, Jason Voorhess and Sakuya, I’ve been reinvigorated with figures and starting to build (and buy) more of them. It’s a shame I suspended them for so long, how much I loved painting skintones! On the restart I pulled another one of the kits… Continue reading WIP: Sakurahime from Plawres Sanshiro
