On my bench right now is the 1:48 Strike Valkyrie from Hasegawa. I’m also doing the weapons pack and the photo etch set; finishing this kit up will help clean up my garage since the combined box volume was pretty big! I’m almost done with the plane itself, and the photo etch pieces applied. This… Continue reading 1:48 Strike Valkyrie (Hasegawa)
Old dog new tricks
Having been building kits for so many years, I’m a little embarrassed that I’ve only learnt of these great products just now. But they’ve massively improved my model building experience recently. Proxxon sander: I’ve mentioned this in one of my previous posts, but the tool keeps reminding me how much my hands are not already… Continue reading Old dog new tricks
Winter modeling
Recently I have found a bit more motivation in working on kits, particularly the larger and more complicated ones. I have to say the cost of models do indicate the time you’re supposed to spend on them! As hard as I tried, I could not easily finish off the PG Unicorn with LED and full… Continue reading Winter modeling
Jesta – 1:100 MG Gundam Unicorn Bandai
After so many years of evolution there’s finally a cool GM derivative that I truly like. The Jesta is like the Black Ops GM. I liked it well enough to even get the Premium Bandai’s Jesta Canon.
Buster Gundam – 1:100 Bandai MG Gundam Seed
Bandai released all the Seed kits in MG form, and they’re awesome. Buster would count as my favorite with its buster canon firing pose.
Providence Gundam – 1:100 HG Gundam Seed Bandai
Of all the seed antagonists Providence is the coolest and had the best power ratio to the protagonists – the Seed Destiny baddies are weak! Providence is beefed up and Dragoons/bits were a novelty in the first season, giving Kira a lot of trouble. The HG kit wasn’t half bad but it needed some mods… Continue reading Providence Gundam – 1:100 HG Gundam Seed Bandai
Marasai – 1:100 MG Bandai
Marasai is the grunt bad guy in the second half of Z. I don’t do a lot of grunts but this dude is pretty menacing… if it doesn’t splay its legs all the time and fall on its face.
Super Gundam Mark II 2.0 – 1:100 MG Bandai
Combining the goodness of MG Mark II 2.0 and the Defender gave us the Super Gundam Mark II 2.0! Not a bad combo but pretty flaky. Should’ve glued the rifle to the hand.
Nu Gundam ver ka. – 1:100 MG Bandai
This is the Nu before I added the conversion kit. While not bad verbatim, the conversion kit fixed a number of proportion and detail issues that made it worthwhile. Anyway with some black light exposures the Nu is pretty awesome as is.
The O – 1:100 Bandai MG
The box was big, but the kit was pretty massive as well. The O is one of the final antagonists of the Z saga and it lived up to its billing with all the hidden gadgets. I played the PSP game Gundam Vs Next Plus and The O used the hidden arm with sabers to… Continue reading The O – 1:100 Bandai MG
