As I mentioned in my review of the fairy kit, I love this Minmay sculpt and I disliked all others that came before it. Part of the difficulty is perhaps the very expressive 2D design by Haruhiko Mikimoto isn’t quite translatable into a 3D design; the nose was always wrong amongst other issues such as odd shaped head… Continue reading Kit Review: Lynn Minmay 1:20 Minimum factory (Max Factory / Good Smile Company)

VF-25S Armored Messiah Ozma’s – 1:72 Bandai
I like heavily armored kits and the Messiah fits the bill. There are so many missiles and hatches that made the not-awesome VF-25 battroid bearable. The kit looks good mainly from the front, but the huge backpack is extended way back, which looks clumsy. This kit is a bit old I guess, since the color… Continue reading VF-25S Armored Messiah Ozma’s – 1:72 Bandai
RVF-25 Messiah Valkyrie Luca with booster pack – 1/72 Bandai
I wasn’t initially thrilled with the Messiah design, but it grew on me after a while even without seeing the anime (I still haven’t finished Macross Frontier…). The RVF variant is the reconnaissance type with the additional radome and remote controlled “ghosts” unmanned aircrafts. After 10 years Hasegawa finally made their version, but it was… Continue reading RVF-25 Messiah Valkyrie Luca with booster pack – 1/72 Bandai
1:48 Strike Valkyrie VF-1S with Weapons
I had waited for this Hasegawa 1:48 Strike Valkyrie ever since they rolled out their 1:72 kits. Reading the history of Hasegawa, their specialty is in 1:72 and less on the larger kits, which explained their very late foray into the line. Given the accuracy and the detail of the final product though, it was… Continue reading 1:48 Strike Valkyrie VF-1S with Weapons
Macross 1:48 Strike Valkyrie full load
This took a while to finish while I waited for the photo etch ladder to come in. I had a lot of doubt whether I wanted it, but it really gives the mini diorama some detail that was lacking. Studio shoot coming up…
Hasegawa 1/48 YF-19 (Macross Plus)
Spent about 3 weekends on this guy. Finally building a macross plane with landing gear, hehe, since this guys to a bit too large to support in free flight form. The legs/engine hatch can be opened and I built one side open and one side closed; it’s possible to close them after the fact, but… Continue reading Hasegawa 1/48 YF-19 (Macross Plus)
Macross Zero VF-0S with Ghost
Finally done with this turkey I’ve worked on and off for the past 3 months – the nekokoneko plane VF-OS! I felt relieved that it’s finished, since the Ghost module has so many breakable parts that makes it dangerous to move around.
Macross Zero VF-0S Valkyrie with Ghost
Introduction Scale 1/72 Maker Hasegawa Completed 01/09/07 Retail 3200yen In the latest OVA series Macross Zero, YF-0 is the predecessor to the famous VF-1 in the original Macross. The design always reminds me of a mix between YF-19 (head area) and VF-1, which makes it look a bit awkward. The body isn’t as streamlined as… Continue reading Macross Zero VF-0S Valkyrie with Ghost
Neko-koneko VF-0S :)
I’m trying to finish up Macross Zero’s VF-0S with Ghost. I like the heavily armed aspect of the fighter, but it’s not everyday you see planes stacked on each other like this 🙂 The Ghost module on top also looks like some creature on top of the main body itself… the whole thing is kinda… Continue reading Neko-koneko VF-0S 🙂
Macross Plus YF19
Happy Thanksgiving! I hope everyone has their juicy turkey. Having gotten my Thanks from Alien Bees, I’ve been having a good time taking pics. I’m hoping to finish up a few kits I’ve been working on for a while this long hoilday, and the first one is the YF-19 I’ve been working on for the… Continue reading Macross Plus YF19
