The WIP post is here.
I found inspiration to do another M3 Lee for the Sgt. Prouty Santa Claus vignette. Earlier I tried to do the scene with the Takom M3 Lee Late, got pretty far with it but the kit really left a lot to be desired and the project was suspended. The MiniArt M3 Lee Late (35214) has… Continue reading Miniart M3 Lee Late
This was MiniArt 35166 Panzer III Ausf C. The kit I receieved was of a pretty brittle styrene which broke all the time. The decals were also disintergrating constantly, making the “222222” markings difficult to apply. I think later castings were done in a plastic that is more like Dragon’s and so probably less horrible. Anyway… Continue reading MiniArt Panzer III Ausf C
This was originally my build thread in Track-link running from 12/19/2019 to 1/28/2020. With the success of their Panzer IV Ausf G., Border Model released the first variant F1. This is a 3-in-1 kit, allowing modelers to build one of the Vorpanzers, Schürzen and regular variants. I primarily chose this for Vorpanzer since Dragon’s kit… Continue reading Border Model Pz.Kpfw.IV Ausf.F1
What a year it had been for everyone. With my work going full WFH, I initially thought it was a golden opportunity for lots of modeling. The compulsion however rapidly deteriorated as I underwent some changes in how I approach life, and see the role of hobby evolved. I still enjoy building kits, but I… Continue reading 2020 Armor year in review
It has arrived. I don’t know why I was eagerly waiting for this kit. I love StuGs for sure, but the B seems to have a lot of nice photos with them in action, and while the Tamiya kit was good with some AM, Dragon is still the king and this kit fills in the… Continue reading Review: Sd.Kfz.142 StuG.III Ausf.B + Sd.Kfz.252 mit Sd.Ah.32/1 Trailer (Dragon 6919x)
Not a lot of Dragon kits has < 200 parts but this one is it, if you don’t count the Magic I’ve got the Ausf B. in progress and the tracks were on sprue which was a clean up nightmare, but MT makes this kit finishable with less than 10 days. Looks simple enough. I… Continue reading Building the Dragon 6289 Panzer I Ausf A.
Introduction The Ausf G is the last production version of the Panther. Production began around March 1944 until April 1945, with about 3885 produced making it the most numerous of the Panthers. This particular kit depicts the final production model, with a number of distinguished features that separated it from earlier versions, including the “chin”… Continue reading Academy 13523 1/35 Pz.Kpfw.V Panther Ausf.G Final Production
This kit is the courtesy of Armorama.com which I did a build review for. Since this was a sample I felt I could try techniques on it, particularly the lacquer chipping with olive drab I learned from TankArt 2. Olive drab is really hard to get right in the sense of making it interesting. So… Continue reading M10 Lend-Lease USSR – Academy 13521 1/35
