I usually don’t do kit reviews, but since no one is going to do an English review for this awesome kit I’ll do one😀 When bandai announced the premium scopedog turbo custom, I was so disappointed that it was just the regular scopedog with new legs, without any weapons! That’s so stupid, but I couldn’t… Continue reading Scopedog turbo custom: last red shoulder ver. 1:20 premium bandai kit review
Using tattoo decals for models
Temporary tattoo makes for great tattoos and prints on figures and models. They have beautiful graphics and subject matters (e.g. dragons) that are hard to find. Last time I used the tattoo decal on a kit was 8 years ago with Mizuki. At that time I didn’t think of the critical step in making the… Continue reading Using tattoo decals for models
Kirin armor with Kirin bolts – monster hunter 1/6 kit
This is one of those kits that I dread to finish… Mostly because of the amount of masking required. Monster hunter costumes are very ornate and has the stone-age fantasy design that I really like. However they have more details than your usual fantasy kit which means a lot of Lmasking. Finally gathered up enough… Continue reading Kirin armor with Kirin bolts – monster hunter 1/6 kit
Neo Zeong – Bandai 1/144 model kit
I completed this kit about a year ago after a marathon session of two months (WIP thread), but was thinking of getting more shots of him before posting. Ah well that never happened, so I figured I should just post what I have 🙂 The Neo Zeong is one of the biggest kits from Bandai, standing… Continue reading Neo Zeong – Bandai 1/144 model kit
Christie monteiro from tekken
After a lot of disasters, I finally finished her today! I liked her quite a bit when I bought her, mostly because of her dynamic pose and cool costume. However the kit was not great to work with having many fit problems, and the head turning back pose makes the kit less interesting. So finishing… Continue reading Christie monteiro from tekken
Sakura hime done!
After all the paint peeling and agonizing color choices, sakura hime is finally done. I’m happy that she’s finally achieved completion after such a prolonged negligence… But I think after so many years my tools and experience has increased enough to do her justice. Now moving on!
WIP: Sakurahime from Plawres Sanshiro
Because of the nice images I got from my figure kits lately, Jason Voorhess and Sakuya, I’ve been reinvigorated with figures and starting to build (and buy) more of them. It’s a shame I suspended them for so long, how much I loved painting skintones! On the restart I pulled another one of the kits… Continue reading WIP: Sakurahime from Plawres Sanshiro
New airbrush: GREX TG5
I needed a larger diameter airbrush for painting large areas; for example priming kits or painting something 1/60. I dug up my old Iwata BCS for this… it has a 0.5mm spray head and with the bottle attachment, I thought it’d be good for it. Then it brought back all my memories of why I… Continue reading New airbrush: GREX TG5
On the bench: 1:48 bandai’s x wing
Wanted to work a bit on weathering, so I restarted the “moving edition” x wing from bandai. This can be considered an upgrade to the proshop light and sound x wing from AMT/ertl, which although was bigger, it was very inaccurate and to be honest I don’t have the electrician’s skills to wire the thing… Continue reading On the bench: 1:48 bandai’s x wing
Woodland scenic rock moulds
I was always pulling hair when I try to mount figures. The usual wooden plaque or acrylic disc can only get you so far, but a full blown diorama base is not scalable when you build a lot of kits. This is where the woodland scenic rock moulds are great. Since it’s a mould you… Continue reading Woodland scenic rock moulds
